My sale obsession continues this week as the count down to the January Sales is now just a few short days away.

Predictably after a difficult year of retail, many stores have already gone into sale such as French Connection, Whistles and Oasis.

For those not following last week post advice on Strategic Shopping, anyone wanting to fight the crowds and hit the shops needs to leave home with a game plan of what to get. You will save yourself a packet if you think before you buy, as we all know sale shopping brings out the clothes demon in us and makes us waste money on useless items.

I say forget about winter clothing (by now you should have brought all that you need for this season) and start thinking about trying to pick up key items for spring that are tipped to be big trends such as:

* Neutral coloured Trench Mac – Burberry are celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2010 and their iconic mac is set to be the must-have item and already there are some very good versions knocking about on the high street

* Cuffed tailored shorts – Tailored shorts have been trying to make a come-back for a couple of summers now but they are definitely due to arrive in a big way for spring. Go for soft muted colours that can be worn for both work and play. I have seen some in Warehouse already in the sale.

* Long slim Tan belt – The key accessory for spring is the belt but it must be tan and it must be long enough to be able to knot ends together (hot new detail). You should be able to pick up a good quality leather one at a smidge of the original price tag.

* Sequinned Vest – If you don’t think you will be sequinned out by spring then a silver coloured sequinned vest will be the creme-de-la-creme of your daytime abode when teamed with your new cuffed shorts and gladiator sandals.

* Boyfriend Blazer – If you toyed with the idea, but was never sure if it actually suited you then this is one frivilous spend that is justified as the half price tag will take the sting out of experimenting. Or if you did try out the BFJ this winter then you will be pleased to know it is still very much in vogue for next season too. Look for a  light grey version as oppose to black.

Finally if you want to be a real shrewd shopper, then why not book a Shop SOS session with me at Miss Dress and I will make sure that you definitely get your money’s worth out of the sales and kick start 2010 in style! Visit www.miss-dress.com/shop-sos

That is it for 2009, I will be back blogging in 2010.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
