If like me on a recent trip round the shops, you will have noticed amongst all the bright prints and nautical fashions, a smattering of ice cream colours in pistatio, peach, strawberry and vanilla have appeared. My usual reaction whenever these colours come back round again is yuck! For the simple reason that they have a tendancy to drain the colour out of any complexion.

It was not until last week that I began to think differently about how to wear this colour trend when I was asked to write on this exact topic for my column in Venue Magazine (for those of you who don’t know it is the o2 Arena’s mag).

From experiementing with different looks, I have discovered that the most modern and most stylish way to wear this sugary, sweet palette is to mix it up and team it with spring’s over big trend; distressed denim. The masculine feel of the denim mixed with the ultra feminine cool melted tones avoids anyone looking washed out  and adds a very edgy current look to the weekend casual wardrobe.
