It’s award season time again but if like me you take more interest in the red carpet than the silver screen, you will know that the Golden Globes serves not only as prelude to the year’s biggest block busters, but also as a platform for the celebs to covet their chosen trends of the season.

Flicking through the images, here are my top 5 best dressed:

sandra Bullok 2010

She was undoubtedly the Golden Girl of the evening, not just for her career achievement but for choosing this simple silohette of slik taffeta by Bottega Veneta and letting the colour speak for it’s self. Understated, refined yet totally sophisticated.

eVA Longaria

I am never normally sure about Eva Longoria’s taste in clothes as it does tend to yo-yo from sexy to slutty. This time she was definitely sexy also going for a very simple shape and letting the colour (and her phenomenally toned body) do all the talking.

kate-hudson

With nude muted tones and lots of soft ruffles filling the shops already, it is obvious that barely-there is going to be a big trend this summer and so it was no suprise to see it flood the red carpet. Kate Hudson (and Drew Barrymore) definitely won the contest in there perfect balance of colour and ruffles mixed together with 1940s structure.

penelope-cruz-

Always with a touch of flamenco style, Penelope shows off how to work embellishment, tiers and bodycon all together without looking like a clothes carcrash. Really the answer is simple, if you don’t like the colours that are in fashion, black is always best.

Jennifer Anniston

A stickler for classic designs, Jen knows what suits her body best. But the thigh high slash, the ruched waist and the one shoulder detail add a modern twist and teach us all a lesson in assymetric dress style that is already filling up the racks in the shops.
